6 word memoirs
I heard a great NPR story about 6 word memoirs the other day. Finding the hidden artist under this engineering cloak I penciled a few the other day. Strangely it was during a presentation. I spoke in Reno at a green seminar and one of the speakers left a bit to be desired so I acted as if I was engaged and jotting down notes instead I captured my memoir in 6 word stories. A few are about my life others are just thoughts and some are reiterations of the crazy guy’s sayings. Here they are.
- Can we run out of water?
- I hope we get to net-zero
- Knowledgeable Architects can save the world
- Tighter buildings can’t breath, causes coughing
- Pointing fingers makes me feel better
- Can WalMart really ever go green?
- Lower footprint aspirations fuel life changes
- Love and sacrifice with no regrets
- Met in school, fell in love
- Our love is just so easy
- Bring the passion on my team
- Am I in responsible charge now?
- Mom won’t have her brain scanned (sorry mom, but this came to me and it certainly tells so much in just 6 words…)
On a side note here is another 6 words remembering a funny experience
No, I don’t like free stuff
While sitting at a Starbucks in Reno a recent morning before work. Elliott and I were to work in the Reno office and Reena was coming to meet the Reno office. Elliott dropped his mom off for minor surgery, long story, and I went to Starbucks to work on a few things. I set myself in the corner with a white mocha and a nearby power plug for my laptop. I sat with my back to the storefront facing into the store. Eventually a man sat at the table just in front of me and faced me. I thought it was weird given all of the other tables, but I tried to ignore him. Eventually he asked if I ever wondered where my laptop came from. I said no, just as long as it works, I don’t care. He paused and said well if you ever wonder they come from a warehouse in TRIC. I am familiar with TRIC designed a building out there. I thought that’s probably not really where it originated by I didn’t want to egg him on. He said he used to work there and they are distributed from there. Eventually he asked “Do you like free stuff”. I simply said “No.” And he left me alone.
I can thank my mom for this training, don’t talk to strangers, don’t help strange men find their puppies, and don’t take free stuff!
